Shipping911 Europe and back

Does anyone have any experience with shipping their personal car ('88 Carrera in my case) to Europe and back? I am thinking about taking our car to France for Le Mans and then some touring into Switzerland this summer. We would ship from Baltimore or any other nearby port to either England or France and back to the east coast. My buddy wants to do the same with his motorcycle. Who is reputable, costs, etc?

Any thoughts...?

Lee

I shipped my BMW to Hawaii several years ago. It sat before being shipped out and took longer than expected to arrive. I used Matson. I was moving there and had plenty of time to wait for it to arrive, so it was only a small inconvenience, not a total PIA.

Just my $.02

Yep, he didn't ship it back (or wash it - on purpose - great thread), but you probably won't need a fixed return arrival time for the return.

A 3-4 week late arrival time there could really screw everything up, though. Do NOT religiously count on the shippers date; leave a lot of slack.

I shipped a car to Spain and it took almost 4 weeks longer than 'guaranteed'.

I guess it won't carry on on you 767.

Targa to Sicily

Nope... the overhead bins are just a bit small for that! Good idea, though...
