Somewhat new with issues

Hey guys,
My name is Greg, I'm kind of new here. I bought my '74 911 around a year ago, and I found this site shortly after that. I check the forum everyday compulsively and I really appreciate all of you out there for sharing all of this. Here's a pic of said ride

So I began a big tune up about 3 weeks ago- Valve adjust, oil, air filter, cap and rotor yadayada... It got really interesting when I got into the fuel filter, and apparently it was never updated. Not a lot of fun, but I'm pretty mechanically inclined and It wasn't really as painful as I make it out to be.

My fuel pump was making a lot of noise before I parked it, now I go to start it, it doesn't make any noise anymore. I know what that means, so I order a fuel pump (from Pelican). Just now, I went out to the shop, jacked up the front, took off the belly pan and crawl in there. There's no pump in sight.

My question is- Where the hell is it? I looked in the technical area, Waynes book 101 projects, and looked it up in the forum. Am I missing something? Is it another early car- mid car parts jumble, it IS a '74. Help!

Greggrr,

Nice car.

It is like my 1973.5. Your fuel pump is underneath the car on the rear driver side. The rear passenger seat is over it.

They moved it a few years later to the front crossmember.

Please ,

don't work on your fuel system with that light any where around you or your car, if your knock it and the bulb pops it could(will) ignite fuel vapors and you don't want to be under or near if it does. Check at sears they have a good selection(and cheap) of work lights from fluorescent to LED corded / cordless and best of made to be around vehicles.

Thank you ,

Steve

PS: also always use jack stands they are cheap insurance.

Oh yea beautiful car by the way

Thanks guys, it was right where you said it would be. Man what a difference that new pump made! It used to hesitate a little when I put my foot into it, and right before the pump went out it hesitated a lot- but its a fricken rocketcar now. By the way, the new pump is a lot bigger in size, and the outlet is on the end instead of the side. The fittings all worked, it just needed a little bit longer fuel line. No biggy. Thanks again
