Question Heater flap box mod for SSI's

I'm upgrading my 87 3.2 Carrera to SSI's. I understand that there is a modification to the heater flap box that must be done. Can anyone help me with this? What exactly needs to be done? Is is a custom job or can it be handled at home? Thanks

Bags,

I have done the SSI exhaust system on my 85 Targa and so far no modification was needed to my heater flap boxes. There is a mod of the tubing that ducts the air to the heater boxes that is needed. You can either do this with tubing and muffler type piping or there is a gent in NJ who will take your old parts and for around $175 he will weld up a more "cosmetic" looking unit.

There is a lot of ducting that needs to be played with to get heat back to the car, especially on the right side, but its not a big deal. Right now I have ducted air to the left side of my headers and its working great, so the SSI's and heat are not a problem at all!

Do a search on SSI and heating and you will come up with various discussions on this subject. Take a look here and you will find one of the latest.
