Exclamation Help - Fail Emissions Test

1979 SC - stock

I just fail my emissions test. The Carbon Monoxide reading was 7.2 and the standard is 6.0. How do I lower the CO?

I think this has to do with the 3mm hex adjustment on the sensor plate. My question is which way do I have to turn it to lean the car out.

Any information on my problem would be greatly appreciated.

Brian

counter clockwise to lean, does not take much of a turn to make a big change. If the car is currently running well remember how much you turn it so that you can set it back.

Not to rag you, but a quick search of the archives would give you this on point thread: http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=8442&highlight=Failed+Emissions

Robfix - Thanks for the information.

Kurt V - Point taken, I let my fingers to the typing before my brain caught up. The link was exactly what I was looking for.

My 79 SC also just missed the CO reading at idle.

I ran a bottle of Techron through the tank, re-fuelled, and made sure to re-test with the engine very hot (it was a cool day, so I disconnected the hose from the heater fan until just before the test )

Good luck!

Thanks to this board, I am proud to announce my car passed emissions with a 3.0 CO level.

Thanks again,

Brian
