MFI Motor Tach help needed

If anyone could tell me where in the engine compartment the tachometer picks up its signal I would greatly appreciate it. Its a 73' MFI T, I have converted the car to CIS and do not have the MFI relays in the panel and want to get the tach working. I have checked PP post and diagrams and was unable to figure it out. black wire with purple stripe coming out of the wire loom near the distributor. that wire carries the signal to the tach. not sure where to hook it up to in your case. do you still have the cdi box?
