911 915 Transmission type??
I have a '72 911 that I can't locate the transmission type in it. It was originally a sportomatic but was converted to a 915 transmission I believe, but no necessarily to a '72 915 (ie, 915/12). On the bottom of the trans I locate a part number 715-3385. There are several models of the 915 trans - where on the trans do I locate the 915 model number?? Anyone have a picture of where it is on the transmission??
If I end up needing to rebuild/replace this trans, which model of the 915 is best? |

"7" = Trans for 6 cyl engine "1" = 5 speed Type 915/40 "5" = 1975 "3385" = consecutive build number The model number is found on the same raised surface as the number you posted. Often that number has been ground down.
