Coil Replacement - 3.2 stock coil in 3.0

I need to replace my ignition coil and was told by my parts supplier that the stock coil from a 3.2 was a better option than the stock 3.0 coil. He says it produced a better and more consistent spark. My 911 is a 79 sc with regular CDI, dizzy, etc.

Any advice / opinions / experience regarding this?

I would, of course purchase from our excellent host, BUT I actually live 8000 miles from their warehouse. In addition to the shipping time and cost I also have import duty and tax to pay on top of our hosts selling price for many parts that have already had duty added on import into the US.
In fact, the parts would are likely to do more mileage via shipment than in my car!

I meant to say 8000 km not miles (approx 5000)

ZV8888,
The person advising you that a coil from a 3.2 Carrera would work in a CD ignition used in SC models does not know what he is talking about.
A 3.2 Carrera coil works with 12 volts and a ground signal from the ECU box.
A SC uses a Capacitive Discharge system which generates a 350 volt signal to the coil specifically designed for a Capacitive Discharge system.
A Carrera coil would quickly overheat and fail if used in a CD system.
Likewise a CD system coil will not work in a 12 volt trigger system, not enough secondary voltage.

Thanks 2.7 Racer. You confirmed my suspicions. I think I should find a supplier that knows what they are talking about.

Cheers!
