Post rear window trim

Sorry for the double post! What are the consequences of removing the trim from the rear window seal on my '80 targa? To make a long story short, when they were reinstalling the rear window last year, they had a hell of a time trying to get the seal to stay on the window, keep the trim stuck in the seal all while trying to get the window in the car. After several hours they got the window in the car, but the driver side trim piece was not fully seated in it's groove and started to pop out, so I just yanked it out. I've been driving around with only the passenger side trim which looks stupid. Should I just yank out the other trim or cough up the bucks to have the window pulled and reinstalled? I had to call about 30 glass shops before I found one that was even willing to work on the rear targa window. Evidently, they've already heard the horror stories......
