Need advice on wheel widths with mild motor
Are 9" fronts and 11" rears to wide for a stock motor 3.0 with ssi/muffler upgrade? I'm planning to drive the car for Xcross, DE, and part time.
Thanks |

What diameter wheel? I can't imagine you getting those under stock SC fenders.

Tire width you would have to run with 11s will be much heavier....unsprung weight on a fairly stock motor is not a good thing...also overall tire diameter increase will not be good for acceleration....then you have the added steering input required to turn those big tires on the front. I would not think it would be good for a track or autox setup.....It would look good on the street....which is the only place mine ever sees anyway....my racing days are long over. This is also assuming you are talking about a wide body car....dont think anybody has managed to squeeze 9s and 11s under a Carrera.

Look at Bill Verburg's great post on wheel fitments on the link below...scroll down and you will see a chart for sizes/brands/offsets/tire sizes for regular body sc/carrera's. Within the limitations for these sizes and tires available, I think 225 front and 255 rear is about as wide as you will get which should be fine on your car/motor combo.
Wheels fitments, all are 17" unless other wise specified EDIT: Posted above befiore you revealed widebody. Never mind ![]()
