Don't get frustrated--we've all been there. Just remember, attack only one component at a time. Have you set the points? Replaced the cap and rotor? Do you have an induction timing light? If not, get one. Clip the lead to each wire, one at a time, as the engine is running and see if the strobe is irregular and this can help isolate a misfire. If all seem o.k., set your timing. Once all this has been verified as good, move to fuel delivery. This is where a set of pressure gauges is needed. A very simple test procedure that will tell you: If the fuel pump is delivering enough pressure; if your cold start running is too lean; if your warm running is too lean--which can be the cause of your symtoms also. Take a deep breath--it will get solved. Eliminate one variabe at a time. Finish out confirming the security of the ignition, then move ahead. Post often your results and what you've done. Lots of help awaits. Keep the Faith! |

What year is your car? What engine? You may not even have points. |
