In May 2001 issue of "911 & Porsche World" magazine there is a "Running Report" on Trevor Baker's 1988 959. He reports the saddening discovery that a new distributor cap for one of these beauties runs £1200 including labor. If that isn't enough to shake your bones, replacing the 8 tires pressure senders costs a total of £14,400!!!

It's too bad they didn't use the cap & rotor from a dual-plug RSR distributor ... last time I checked the Andial price list, the cap was $800, and the rotor was $300!

Well it does include labor so it's not that bad a deal.

Ok I know the 959 is exotic and everything, but why in the heck would a distributor cap cost THAT much money? Is it the typical "you own a 959, so pay up" thing or does it actually have a high manufacturing cost due to some wierd exotic material or design?
