Does SSI overheat engine ?
 

Hello,

I own a 82sc with headers, which mean no heat in the habitacle. I live north of Montreal and want to use the car a little longer during the fall period as the weather gets cooler(defrost & foot well heat).
I am now in the process of upgrading the engine to a 3.2ss with SSI.
I have removed the rear blower.
I have read some threads, about overheating the engine, if there is no
air circulation in the heater boxes of the SSI !!!
Any opinions or comments.

Pierre,

Yes, if you use SSI heat exchangers, you should hook up the heater inlets. Heater backdate ducts are available for the engine shroud, as are the clamps and hoses. On the outlet side, if you don't run heater hoses to the heater valves on the body, you should install air restrictors per the factory workshop manual to keep the back pressure up.

Search here for "heater backdate" for more information. SSI heat exchangers are of extremely high quality.
