Trompe L'oeil Radio Blanking Plate

I made up this 'fool-the-eye' radio blanking plate for my 82 Targa. All the details on how I did this and the correctly sized jpeg images are available for download at my site if you want to do something similar.

Kevin Gosselin: Porsche Radio Blanking Plate. Trompe L'oeil.

It would be ironic if someone broke into your car to steal the nice new stereo you have there, only to find out it's not real.

wouldn't it be better to have a radio faceplate that looks like an empty radio hole?

Porsche Crest Blanking plate before the decal

Hey, Kevin, maybe I missed it but where did you get the blanking plate before you put the sticker on it?

Do an engine like that and save some serious weight.

rbuswell - I bought a piece of modeling pine for $2. Modeling pine is really soft, easy to shape and sand. And it is not a decal. It is a regular inkjet print on regular paper that is adhered and sealed with decoupage fluid name brand - Mod Podge.

Kevin, nicely done. BTW, congrats on the GRM piece. Nice pose trying to figure out how to get the rear-end back in the 944. Was that posed or were you really that befuddled? Also, you should never have to do that kind of stuff yourself. You've got gobs of Pelicans/Rennlisters who would be happy to help you with the hoisting.
