I'd like to buy an MPH speedo to replace my KPH speedo, but I wan't to keep the KPH speedo, so converting it isn't an option.
I see speedo's of varying years on eBay all the time, but am unsure as to compatibility. From what year cars could I buy a speedo that would be a straight install? Thanks!

I just asked the same question for my 82 911SC, which, as a US car, came with an 85 mph speedo. Most others swap theirs for a 170 mph, which are still used stateside. Porsche uses the same looking speedo in the 944. If I get an answer to my question, I will share the response.

As far as 'drop-in' replacement with no adjustments or recalibration doers, any speedo from a '76 thru '86 911 or Carrera using a 915 transaxle will work, since all used the 8:31 ring & pinion. The 912E and Turbos are excluded, as are any Sportomatic-equipped models, though the electronic speedos are easier to recalibrate than mechanical versions!
