Question 1973 Anniversary Edition 911

I ran across a '73 911T Targa for sale. Guy says it's an "Anniversary Edition", gold paint, with all 'S' equipment on it except the engine. I can't find any reference to an anniversary edition in any of my references. Anyone aware of these special cars? What distinguished them from the other cars that year? Any idea how many were made or the desirability of the car?

No such animal. no such anniversary!

It was, of course, the 10th anniversary of the show car's intro, but the factory wasn't worrying about such things! If they had, don't you think the RS would have been so designated?

I have a 1973.5 T and was fortunate enough to get a hold of about every sales brochure (ebay) for that year. Although the 73 was the last of the 911's for the older style bumpers, 2.4 liter engines, older four point steering wheels, etc, the 73.5 did present new features like the 915 transmission, CIS fuel management system and other refinements. No where in the brochures was an anniversay model mentioned, or the color "gold" presented. Their is gold Porsche and 911T read deck lettering, but an anniversay model? I do not think so.

Regards

Bob

It's probably the anniversary for the first time this guy pulled a money raking stunt- say twenty five years to the day he sold his kid brother a box of special extra creamy Twinkies or something.

No such animal mentioned in any of the Porsche books I have (about 50).

Thumbs up

Thanks all for the input. This story didn't sound right to me but I figured I should ask the experts to make sure I wasn't missing out on a once in a lifetime car.
