Wonder what it'll go for. I would like to see pics and have a little more info if I was to shell out my $. But I don't need a new engine. I am lucky and have a 2.7 Why do sellers not tell everything they can?????? Shawn

If it sounds too good to be true, then.......well, you know the rest.

You'll see a lot of cheap 996 and Boxster motors in the next few years. They're cheap, new, too. But they're pretty much useless for our cars, which were designed for air-cooled engines. Swapping in the 996 motor is about the same scope of project as the SBC V8 swap -- except that there's an established path already for the SBC.
Also, since Porsche has been replacing broken ones wholesale with a swap, you'd need to be especially careful about picking one up used.

HOLY COW!!! LOOK AT THAT THING!
I've never seen one of those engines out of the car before. You can actually see the alternator, wow! and look at all those pulleys - looks very intimidating for do-it-yourself work. and where are the spark plugs? oh well, that's the evolution in technology

Looks remarkably similar to the motor in my Ford pick-um-up
