are they not the same as the stock ones, other than the color? the old red ones were pretty soft and leaked after a couple of years.

John, I don't really know. These have been on the car for at least 15-17 years. I had a small weep on one so I am replacing them all. I am pretty sure that I read that the orange seals were differnt than the green ones. I actually don't think the tubes I have are Rauch..they are made a little different but are wonderfully made.

Are you sure they're not Weltmeister alloy tubes? I had a set of those on my car about 10 years ago and noted the o-rings are different than stock tubes.
My alloy tubes leaked/weeped at the metal joints so I replaced them a year after I bought them with the original telescoping type plated steel tubes. They were cheap (mostly because the dollar beat the euro so bad back then) and have been leak free ever since.

Pretty sure. These tubes are extremely well made. These were on prior to the second owner of the car. She bought it in 93...I bought it from her in 97.
Never had a leak from the center...just a weep from the end. I turned them in place, cold, and now they are leaking badly. Ben

Mine weeped from the ends too. Not the o-rings themselves, but the metal joints where the tubing entered the adaptor ring that carries the o-ring.
I suspect the o-ring is not a unique size. I bet you could replicate the size from a place like McMaster Carr industrial supply, and in a good material like Viton? McMaster-Carr

My tubes are solid, billit aluminum. I will look into McMaster but was hoping for a "off the shelf" solution. I can't be the only one that has replaces the red orings.

Ah, that answers the debate (in my mind) if they are Weltmeister. Mine were not solid pieces. The tubing was pressed into a separate o-ring "adaptor" piece and the joint between the two parts weeped.
