Header choice for HP 3.0
I am finished with my 3.0 SC rebuild and am now looking for an exhaust system. I think I would like headers as heat is not necessary here in Houston. My build is as follows:
Stock case w/ stock crank Re-sized SC rods with Raceware bolts 95mm Mahle cylinders w/Supertec studs 95mm JE pistons @ 10.5 : 1 Stock '78 SC heads w/ new guides, race springs, titanium retainers, twin plug GE 60 Cams w/ re-bushed & re-ground rockers Pressure fed tensioners w/ Supertec idlers 46mm Webers on PMO manifolds w/ PMO insulators BURN-BROS twin plug dizzy w/ MSD 6 AL & 2 MSD blaster coils with 15 volt inverter Stock 915 2100 pound Targa w/ chassis mods I would like it to sound good but not too-too loud. Mix of street and DE with limited track use. Mostly a weekend hot rod. Any suggestions? Lindy |

For your motor I'd recommend European Racing Headers or the headers from S-Car-GO. The Buckley headers are top notch but not the right ones for your motor. You need shorter primary tubes like on the headers I mention.

Sounds like a great engine! IMHO, SSIs are great...you get great headers and heat.

Thanks for the help. I had SSI and sold them looking for a bigger primary. I'm going to go see Jim Buckley this week and see what he has to say. I had never heard of his headers before asking this question of what to use here. His stuff is very trick. I will be checking into the shorter primary theory and what European and S-CAR-GO have to offer. I'll keep you all posted as things move forward.

MSDSinc. has these equal length and mitred collector headers (1.625" primaries) on sale this month at 30% discount. With a set of extensions you can go directly into any dual inlet muffler available. These are raw-steel, but there are several coating options from MSDS.
They are at MSDS Inc. -* HIGH QUALITY HIGH PERFORMANCE ACCESSORIEShttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1268097233.jpg |
I have these in 1.5" or 1.625", 321 stainless, equal length.
