Paul, that is essentially correct. You get a blank case from the dealer and rebuild on that. Stamping the original numbers on the new case yourself is considered by many to be close to fraud.

I've seen them both ways. I know where there are two NOS 901/16 replacement cases from Vasek's old inventory. I've held them in my own hands and viewed them with my own eyes. Some replacement cases did get stamped with type numbers.
