85 911 Shifting
Curious if I have a serious problem....2nd gear is a little stiff going in when cold..once warmed up shifts smooth...nature of the beast?

hat is nothing "serious." Some people find a cure with new transmission fluid of the Swepco brand. Some people find double clutching helps. Some people finds that finesse pays off.
Serious would be when it won't go in at all, hot or cold.

It is cold where I live, and in mny of the cars I drive, I just go for third for that first shift. My experience with Swepco is that it is worse in the cold BTW. I have used Redline NS, but I got the spec from their technical support site. That was the best in the cold of anything I have used. Swepco can take 5 or 10 miles to get warm in the Northeast winter.
Your Mileage may vary. I am just a country carpenter. |

That's a 915 transmission, nature of the beast. Not to worry.........try not to force it too much when cold though.

Nature of the beast.
Like stated, you can try changing to Swepco, replacing bushings, linkage adjustments, all pretty good weekend activities, lots of info here on what/how to. You might see incremental improvements in 1-2. Learn to finesse it.

I have a Rennshift shifter, a stomski shift coupler and swepco 210 in the box.
Shifts great ! Second is also a bit stiff, but because of the Rennshift I am able to 'find' the gear a lot faster. It 'almost' shifts as good as my VW Rabbit (of VW Golf as it is called over here) |
