Sorted out some Issues! (Happy Story)
Well Pelican Heads, I just needed to share this with you. For the past few years I have had little time to really dig into my 71 T. The car has a few mods that have been fun to install, but due to life and time issues, the past times I have had to rely on some great mechanics, TLG being one of them. Anyway over the course of the past few weeks I have sorted out my dash lighting problems, cleaned up the turn signal problem and all kinds of little tasks (thanks to this board).
Working on the car and getting it out on the road has got my gear head blood going again so I started sorting out the timing and carb issues. I picked up a Petronix and installed it. Very easy task with MAJOR progress. Timing and tune up was perfect. Regaped the plugs in hopes to get better performance from the MSD and THAT WORKED TOO! ![]() So it just gets better. I have never been comfortable with tweaking the PMOs on the car, so feeling pretty good about things I dove merrily into that task as well. And poof! The car runs great. It is not perfect but I actually now have the confidence, and the pleasure to keep working with these wonderful carbs and will get it perfect. It was a great weekend that showed results. I just wanted to share this with you all, cause it was great fun and brought back those wonderful feelings of playing DIY mechanic. Of course the experts on this site made the difference. Thanks to all . Next projects: Full suspension install: Objective is to have this complete by Autofest. Start the 901 rebuild (this is an additional transmission that I have) Start the 2.5 short stroke project (again seperate engine). OH and get out to AX and DE and just any car club get together that I can make. Hope to see you all there. DanB
