Please Have a look at my new Porsche 911 D2 Air Filter Cover for 911 1974 - 1983

Hi Guys Im new to this Forum, My name is Damien and i Live in Australia, and I am a current Product Design Student. I have used Pelican parts for a while now to source parts for my 1982 911 3.0lt and i think its a great site!

Over the last year I have been working on designing and making my own Air Filter Cover to use on my car and have recently finished manufacturing it, and I thought instead of making just one for me, i will make a few just incase anyone else around the world would like one also, I have limited production to 50 pcs. It is Made in Australia out of the highest quality materials.

It is available on ebay motors to customers worldwide, so please feel free to have a look:

PORSCHE 911 D2 RACING AIR FILTER COVER 1974-1983 : eBay Motors (item 170454978302 end time Mar-15-10 07:20:27 PDT)

Thanks,
Damien I.
Australia.

Welcome. It might be a good idea to talk to Wayne, before you post your air cleaner cover as "for sale" (since, well, he sells Porsche parts for a living, and also owns this BBS).

That being said, your car looks nice

edit: here ya go...

What would be most interesting to a lot of readers here would be for you to explain why your design is superior to Porsche's. Have you measured airflows, or shown that this draws lower temperature air? Something like that.

Porsche has that snout on its cover for a reason. I don't know just why, and like most racers think that modifying the stock piece by cutting a bunch of big holes in it or otherwise using it only to hold the filter element in place somehow just has to increase airflow/reduce airflow restrictions. But I don't know that for an actual fact. I have read that measurements on the 3.2 motors have shown that at least some aftermarket filter and housing systems have actually cost power.

And there is the question of preventing ingestion of rain water.

Mind you, as a seller you are certainly entitled to sell something if its main or only virture is that it looks cooler. There is a market for that. Why else would someone lavish care and attention on painting the fan? And certainly if it solves the problem of the stock rubber straps breaking, that would be a benefit. But if there is a measurable performance gain, that certainly perks up ears.

You better send an e-mail to Wayne/Pelican Parts parts as Embraer stated before you start trying to pawn off your goods here. This guy or his buddy were already posting in the 911 tech forum (Greedy Jones). Pretty shady sales tactics IMO. Here is the link :
Finally, Check this out, pretty cool Air Filter Cover -911- 1974-1984

the guys above got it.....sorry fenderguy if you don't. he's got 4 posts because he just signed up to sell his stuff. In my post I said "as stated by Embraer" so. not quite sure where you were going with that. or the point about the pictures other people posted. In that post the guy was claiming to be from Atlanta but had an Australian e-mail. Just thought it was a poor way to market your goods on this forum. Not trying to ruffle anybody's feathers.
