New Server Location...

Last night I lugged both forums servers (one serves up the pages, and the other runs the database) to a new colocation facility that is located on the backbone of the Internet. We've had a 'test box' over there for a few years as a backup - the speeds and response times out of there were incredible. At our location in El Segundo, our provider was not able to increase our bandwidth, so we had to move. So far so good, I think you will find that the forums load lightning fast now.

Let me know what you think.

thx,

Wayne

Dang! I just added more memory to my netbook today. What a waste! Seems faster for sure.

Nope. Your computer might be confused with the move.

Tried to login last night and got the dreaded "Maintenance" note.

Glad that's what it was for.

Thanks, Wayne.

The order I just placed for some VW GTI parts seemed to hang for about 5 min on the last page, you know, the one when you forget to check the legal box but then it went thru. BUT my wife is also out shopping so there could be a lot of other activity on the CC that may have held it up too?

Self hosting is longer cost viable. Hosting is cheap, support is 24/7, uptime is guaranteed and pipe speeds are super. Welcome the 21st century and goodbye to the headaches of self hosting! Great call.
