Using IE I could never post and it would never remember me - I felt so ashamed - unless I used Firefox, where I could do those things and still feel slightly ashamed ;). Now the word has changed, I am remembered on IE and am no longer ashamed!

Splain that one Lucy!

Faster Server

Wayne,
It is faster!!!!!
What's your server running MFI, CIS or Carbs?
Seems cooler also, maybe 11 blade fan upgrade.

That's probably a coincidence. The server was definitely straining our bandwidth before - now it's wide open. The colo facility that it's in generates ping times of less than 10ms to my cable connection here at my house. Previously, it was like 30-40ms. That may not seem like much, but when you have 100+ images / files on a page, it makes a difference in load times.

Wayne - Thanks for fixing the 930 forum linking glitch affecting AOL users.

Wayne, I am on the east coast. The server is sporadically very slow to respond. For example around 8AM'ish it simply would not load. There was a period yesterday around 3PM and 6 PM with the same thing. Other websites were loading fine. Same issue for Firefox and IE.

The forums load super-fast....especially on Chrome. Thanks Wayne!

Ditto here in midwest /St. Louis. Formerly consistent page loads became sporadic slow response and page hangs, coincided with server move.

Double ditto here. For example, it took just over 30 seconds for this page to load from the time I hit the "quote" button on Talewinds reply to the time the reply window for me to type in actually loaded. Using very latest version of Firefox on Windows XP Pro. No problems on any other websites I go to.

Triple ditto. Sorry Wayne, I'm an IT guy and I hate to hear of issues. The pages hang periodically. They seem to load quickly once they start loading, but it often hangs first - 5 to as much as 30 seconds. I've cleared my cache, closed other windows, even re-botooted, etc. Plus, I am not experiencing latency on other websites, so it doesn't seem to be my machine. Routing issues?

Windows XP/Firefox 3.6

I was reluctant to post because I thought the problem was with my IP provider but I'm having the same problem with sprodic slow loading, hanging pages, etc--and I'm in SoCal.

Same problem here. It hangs for quite a time before loading - periodically, that is.

Same here.

Bill Verburg 03-12-2010 11:02 AM

another east coaster, mostly the speed is improved but it does seem to hang at times.

Wayne 962 03-12-2010 11:10 AM

I'll reboot the machines. I'm watching here and the connection is fine, and I see some slowdown. When I click on the link to change a page, it's just sitting there. But the server then has zero load - it's like there's a disconnect between the browser and the server somewhere not related to bandwidth and/or CPU.

For those seeing slowdowns, you can check your path to the server by typing ping 207.136.153.225 and let me know what you see. Should be about 20ms or less.

I also have a new firewall installed at the location, maybe it's not beefy enough, I'll have to check that too...

I get a minimum of 82 ms and a max of 161 ms.

That's pretty terrible. What is the comparable ping times to www . google . com and 66.236.61.161 (the old server connection).

thx,

Wayne

Netspeed 03-12-2010 11:39 AM

I got 13ms

Wayne 962 03-12-2010 11:40 AM

I rebooted everything except the firewall, and I'm just rebooting that right now. We'll see if that makes a difference.
