915 Shifter rod seal repalcement

I have oil dripping from my shifter rod seal in my '79SC and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get that little seal out of there. I've removed the coupler and plan on sliding the new one over the shaft but so far I'm struggling to get the old one out. Any sugegstions?
Thanks,
Kevin

Dentist picks are great tools for this job. A regular seal puller can't fit in the area with the shift rod attached.

Yorkie: If you can get the car over to Marc at Red Line (562) 901-2900, he's in Long Beach, I'm sure that he'll be happy to change it for you. I fabricated a "puller" using a long skinny flat blade screwdriver, and have used it for 30+ years. I ground the tip into a hook of sorts, that can be pushed under the seal's lip. It's a bit of a bear of a job, the trick is to not damage the aluminum bore of the seal's recess, if you scratch that surface oil can leak past the outside of the new seal!
