Am I Hearing Things...Or Is My Fuel Pump Humming...

While my car was idling I noticed a humming noise coming from the front of the car. Upon further investigation the noise appeared to be coming from the fuel pump area...does this mean it is about to give up the ghost? (die, croke, stop working)?

When I first got my car, I thought it was a vacuum leak at the booster, turns out it was the fuel pump. That was 4 years ago, it's still going strong, don't worry about it, worry about your head studs.

my pump makes more noise when it works harder. It gave me an indication the fuel filter was plugged. I have a pre-filter and one in the engine compartment. Sediment was coming from foam bits in the fuel cell. I might suggest checking the filter and also the screen on the tank.

I've seen a lot of 911 fuel pumps fail in the past 3-4 years. I think it might be related to the crappy gas now days.
