Fuchs misrepresentation?
Haven't seen this posted before, but on Ebay, there's a seller that advertises FUCHS wheels (4 7 & 8 x 16 for less than $600).
And they are NEW. Called Fuchs. If you read down the copy they finally say in smaller print that they are replicas. They're cast, not forged. How can they get away with calling them Fuchs, a trademarked name? Just wondering... I know most companies, Porsche, Rolex, etc. are pretty aggressive about anyone else using their name. |
says "replica" right in the description, along with "porsche-style"
I guess the heading is the only issue... |
PLus they look fake from a mile away!
No one can ever be fooled right? |
Those look fake to me and I don't even have those fuchin things.
|
Good luck finding tires for a 7/8" wheel.
|
A replica normally still looks roughly like the real thing. These are more..er.... Fuchs inspired?
|
People can get away with anything on eBay...

not a very high-quality replica...I wouldn't use them on a P-car. But I would use them on a VW rat rod.

When you scroll down in the ad, he states several times that they are replicas. I don't know what the big deal is........The seller gives all the specs for the wheels, including the fact that they are forged. The heading does say "fuchs" but no one is stupid enough to buy the wheels without reading the info below the heading.
I've been buying on Ebay for 10 years, never had a bad deal. You have to ask questions and be smart. I thing Ebay is a great resource. I also buy & sell on Craigslist, never been burned there either. |

The ad is quite clear about the fact that they're replicas. But IMO more Fuchs inspired than replica. |
I think they actually look good, different enough,I would rock these over other replicas Ive seen for sure especially if they are forged.. STeve

he is using fuchs to describe the style of wheel. if i tried to sell replica fuchs wheels, i would advertise them as fuchs, or fuchs style wheels. i would not know what else to call them. if he just said porshe wheels and they where some other style, i would be pissed that i wasted my time opening the link when he could have al least said something in the description. its kinda like people on here that type "help" in the description and that is it.
why pay $600, you could almost get a real set for that now. |
They are 7's for the front and 8's for the rear. I saw them on a guys car in Phoenix and talked to him about them. He gave me the website:
Porsche Specials Sets of 4 Wheels and Rims - Free Shipping - @ WheelsAndCaps.com The eBay deal is less expensive than the website including the shipping charge. I saw the in person and thought they looked really good on his car. |

I know he says they are replicas, the title IS misleading. |
This listing may be a violation of eBay rules. eBay prohibits sale of "Counterfeits, fakes, or replicas of brand name items." I think you can get away with selling a Fuchs replica if you don't call it a Fuchs replica, just say its a wheel. But putting the Fuchs name in the ad - not so sure.
|
I don't understand what the problem is? how else do you want the seller to draw your attention to the wheels? There is a market for everyone. I would rather the seller be clear about his product and state that they are replicas than not to mention at all. If that pissed you off, check this "959 convertible turbo body "out. A 14 year olds wet dream.

Nothing wrong with making and selling replica Fuchs. Everyone, including Pelican, does it. |
Welcome to the 21st century.
Search Fuchs on eBay and you get what-a "gazillion" matches? |
