The half shaft/CV joints bolt to the transmisson drive flanges and flanges on the wheel assemblies. Then the half shafts are held in the CV joints by retaining rings on the ends. After removing the retaining ring a soft faced hammer usually can knock the half shaft out of the CV joint. If not then use a shop press. If you are doing a CV joint swap you will likely also need new boots, boot ties or straps, CV joint flange gaskets, CV joint grease if new joints are ungreased and maybe new bolts (use the correct grade, type and length of bolt). Check the the heads of your bolts as some are hex and some have a 12 point star pattern. You'll need to get the correct tool. Do a search on CV joints on the board; there's plenty of information. Jim
