great job fishcop...is anyone making these set ups and selling them...? maybe they could break it down into shipable pcs that are either final welded at the final destination or bolted together...?

My tub is no longer in mine, so it is potentially available if you are interested in it. The only downside is that it is in Tampa, FL and I am living in Germany presently. If you're interested, PM me and we can figure something out. I have relatives who can get to it.

Or... pick yourself up a welder and make one... I am a hack welder and it still came out pretty nice.

Don't mean to be a buzz kill, but for those considering this, a quality rotisserie is not expensive and affords complete access...no cage pieces to work around and you can spin it and hold it in any position. There is always a market for a used rotisserie if you want to move it along after your restoration. Pennies on the dollar given the cost of restoring an early 911. But...you did a great job on what you built.

I had seen this idea but am not a welder. and saw some people make a rotisserie from a pair of engine stands. the material may not cost much to weld a frame, but the time needs to be considered. and the home made rotisseries from engine stands lack height adjustment.

got a TITAN 4500 lb rotisserie for just over $1k. just starting to strip tub for paint. really easy to use. as I was mounting the tub to it, wondered if it can also be used like a 2 post lift. rather than connect to each end of the car, place each section on either side. but my car will be on this for a while. once painted, will assemble most of the car on the rotisserie.

I love this idea but I'm severely limited in the height department in my garage. I understand the strength advantages of the octagon but I only want an "L". There are obviously safety implications with the "L". Years ago I saw a contraption that enabled this back yard mechanic to roll his car on it's side. He bolted one of the braces to each of the drivers side hubs then with some lever arms rolled the "K" car on its side. Has anyone else seen this before?

if I recall the max height of my tub was maybe 6' on the rotisserie. just high enough to fully rotate the tub. it can be raised higher but don't need a lot of height for it, just rotate the car to provide access to whatever area needed.

I bought one back in England , easy enough to make one .
Problem is you need suspension installed on at least one side of car .

The Titan is a very nice option but I need a cheaper option.

Ian I was actually thinking about mounting to the same chassis mounts as the octagon rotisserie design.

David , I’ve been looking at modifying my chassis dolly that it’s currently “sat” on , to fix it more securely for transportation to dippers or blasters when I get that far .

Since I’ve built out from the walls in my little garage , I need to look at space needed for either rotisserie or cage design .

I might end up modifying 2 engine stands to get the car on its side , then make attachments for my current chassis dolly to hold it there and remove the engine stands .

Either that or modify the dolly so it will roll onto its side .

Small electric winches are available at harbor freight cheap enough to make spinning a car a one man operation .
