915 Main Shaft
Trying to find out what I am looking for in a 915 main shaft.
My 73 main shaft is going bad. Where 2nd gear mounts onto the shaft. What years will fit into this transmission without changes to anything else? I am told that there were modifications to the main shaft in later years that stopped this problem. Will an 85/86 main shaft fit right in? I want to keep the rest of the transmission the same.

Steve,
Can you please post images of your problem shaft. My opinion is you have a modified input shaft. I have many. Best, Grady

Main shaft
The transmission is at Jerry Woods and I did not get any pictures.
Al Uejo at Parts Heaven was really quick in helping me out by making some calls and finding out what would work. He is shipping me a late (reinforced and updated) model main shaft. Apparently all up to and including 86 will fit, and the later ones are stronger. Thanks All Steve
