Has anyone looked at this C2S?

All German Auto is selling this '97 black 993 C2S with a tiptronic tranny. Seems like a decent price if everything checks out. Its listed on Autotrader. They are located in Escondido, CA. Can someone check it out?

I could look at it for you although I am not very well informed of the 993's I do have the 911 buyers guide I can catch up on if someone else here doesn't volunteer before tomorrow.

Drive a tip before you buy one!

I'd ask over on the Rennlist 993 forum- lots of resources there.

Good luck!

I know its a tiptronic and 911's are suppose to be stick but its still would be interesting to see if its worth the hassle. I'm still getting to know my 3.2. The 993 is a different beast and people aren't spending big on toys right now.

Have you ever tried Intersport there in Vienna? They have some really nice cars- often 993s, and are good at finding cars also. They also stand behind what they sell...

As an owner of a 1997 993 Carrera S, I would inquire about the air injection system. I have a few miles on the car. The secondary air injectors clogged up causing the car to fail emmisions. The cure was a top end rebuild. Not inexpensive.

True, if the reason the SAI ports are clogged are bad valve guides. However, there are at least 2 published procedures describing how to clean the ports without even dropping the motor. The first is over on PCarWorkshop.Com and then a newer technique was recently put up over on RL.

I read somewhere that there is CARB documentation for the SAI problem and you may be able to pass with a check engine light on if it passes the sniffer. Not sure if you have to get a referree involved.

I saw this ad too and stopped reading as soon as I saw it was a tip. That's a deal-breaker for me - I want to drive my car, not just point it.
