Indoor Panel > What happened here?

Hi guys, i am into the process of fixing some door troubles: rattling windows, pocket panels and ahd to open door handle.

While there, i noticed that my electric window was very loose! In fact, i can pry them by hand couples of inches up and down. So i suspected loosed regulator rails.

Heres a picture. Two holes are messed up, leading to think there have been some force applied there. Can you help?

What are these holes for? What cause have cause these warps around them?

Car is 1978 911 SC Targa.

I'm guessing from your photo that those holes are for the bolts to secure parts of the window regulator--I can't really tell. If so, it wouldn't take much if one or more of the bolts began to loosen (through vibration, door closing, movement of the regulator for example). Once loose, the torque from the window mechanism would cause the bolts to move within the hole and eventually ream them out, as shown. BTW, is the top bolt missing or did you remove it before the photo?

Yes, the bold is missing. I should have mentionned that sorry. But there isnt any fasteners behind the door panel facing that hole. Maybe that hole isnt used at all, i mean it may be precutted for hand-winded window? Anyone?

As for the torned one, any possible way if fixing that, apart weld a sound section and drill a new hole?

Thanks!

I think that your pic is of the driver's door.

Your missing mystery hardware seem to be associated with the window regulator.

Here is a jpeg for the passenger door.

The other jpeg is reversed.

Good luck,

Gerry

Looks like your right. Its a window regulator secure bolts. Its now holding with 3 out of 4 screws, hence the wobbling.

Two questions:

- can these bolts be bought? How whats the thread size?

- i cant have access to the hole that the screw should fit it? How to access it? what to expect?

Someone has a picture of a dismantled window regulator? I am looking to see IF the window regulator frame is damaged as well.

Thanks!
