OEL gauge

My gauge reads in the red even when engine is warm, i checked engine oil level and it is about 3/4 the way up the stick. If i disconnect a wire at the oil storage tank under fender the gauge goes all the way up. Connect it again back to in the red.
What is the problem here?

Several things: bad sender, bad ground (corrosion). Check out some other posts on here about the same thing
