i have posted many threads about 82 sc and a hesitation/backfire problem i have check many things found many problems and fixed them but they did not effect the problem i was having. someone asked me what my timing advance was running and that put me on the right path. when i unhooked my vac advance no backfire. well as it turns out when i installed an msd in my car of coarse they dont have a diagram for porsche cdi distributors so i did what to the best of my ability( 20 years as an auto mechanic)i hought was correct. turns out after many tries all that was wrong was the 2 pickup coil wires were reversed. after tearing down the distributor and finding nothing wrong i sat and turned the dist and thought about things. my rotor was showing signs of firing off of the extreme corner . all of the sudden it hit me like a ton of bricks i reversed the wires in my cdi plug( when i installed the msd i cut no wires) whamo it runs like a clock so if any one ever runs into this problem after an aftemarket ignition install try the wire switch first. again thank you all so much i now love my 911 more than anyone could.
