Can Autozone/Checker bench test my alternator?
 

Of course I Know they can bench test alternators, but since the 911 alternators are different, I recall hearing somewhere that not just anybody can do it (correctly). True? I've never had an alternator bench tested, is there anything they need to know or that I should ask?

Yes they can, just bring the external regulator, if you have one, with you (might have to tell them how it hooks up).

I never had luck at those types of auto stores. They had no means by which to spin the alternator. Took mine to an auto electric shop. They know what's up.
