Post BBS Improvement?? I Might have a good idea.

Well not that this place is anything bad but I noticed when i was on vwvortex that they have the folders turn red when there is a new message on the board since the last time u visited it... Just thought hey this might be an easy thing to do as a lil helper... But if not then hey who cares and this place still kicks a$$.. Anyone else agree? Or have any other idea's to improve? Sorry for being a pain, not complaining just wondering if possible.

make sure you're saving your history(tools, internet options). If you clear your history folder so your wife/gf doesn't see all the porn sites/yahoo personals you visited last, then that's the problem! Be sure your browser is history save enabled (also under tools assuming MSIE)

I have history enabled on my browser "Explorer" and this board doesn't work like you state. Any other ideas?

I have to remember approximately what the time was when I was last browsing to know what "new" posts there are.

Hey Leland, don't feel bad. I thought he had some great idea for BBS wheels.

A simple way to find new posts is just to hit the refresh button frequently. All the threads that have had new posts will be at the top of the list.

back in the old excite days,

there was a preliminary login and next to each post with a new response was a tag that stood out and said NEW

VERY easy way to check unread posts.

All kidding aside, Danny has a great idea. I'm not sure if the Ultimate BB (Wayne's software) supports such a feature or not. As already stated, the topics with new posts float to the top of the main page, but it's not always easy to remember which topics you've already read to completion.

Another cool feature would be this: when I click on a topic, there would be a placeholder to indicate how far down the topic I had read. On these 30+ post topics, I often have to re-read many of the posts before I realize where I'd left off.

Don't mind me--I'm a usability consultant, and I'm always on the look out for such things.

Hello

Just click on the outher button on the upper row. The sheet with the red arrow to the right.

Now you are in the answer mode the gray window. On the left side is under your Repley:

*HTML is ON
*UBB Code is ON

Smilies Legend

If you look close you will find the hyperlink: http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/ubbcode.html to the code description.

Just read it and copy the codes into a notepad sheet. So you can use past&cut if you dont find the [ ].

You also can load the script from any page and look at the source codes.

Grüsse

Is there a list of colors you can choose from somewhere?
