MSD 6a vs 6AL
I am replacing my stock CDI as it's fried. I will be purchasing the MSD unit. Is there any reason I should need the rev limiter found in the 6AL ? Is the 6A more user friendly ?
Thanks

Yeah cuz its cool and not much more. User friendlier = NO. I went the A route and always wished I went the AL route.. the limiter is more precise and Id like the option to turn mine back a little bit to save on my engine cuz Im a lead foot fool.

Less brakes, more gas!

Go with the AL unless you plan to stock club race in which case you have to stick with the OEM rev limiting... Other than that I believe they are identical units.

Why not go for the 6AL-2, which has dial adjustable rev limiters, saves having to buy the bag of plug-in chips

No the new MSD unit that is a development of the 6AL
![]() The rubber plugs on the top hide the setting dials for the rev limiter, a launch control limiter and the nr of cylinders (4,6 or 8) of your engine It means you can adjust your rev limit very easily |
