Bumper pad access looks easy, contrary to what I've read...

Looked last night, because today I swap out the left side hump (two inch crack, I didn't do it ). Looks like all kinds of room back there ('86 car). I've read many reports of "removing muffler", etc.....no way that's necessary. Just older cars or those with certain non-stock mufflers that have such a problem? I just figure some guys out there might want to know this looks way too easy to accomplish; removal, replacement, whatever....with a cold muffler, of course ...several inches of clearance back there.

I had no issue with access room either. If you were not replacing the driver (LH) side unit, I'd advise hot-wrenching the nuts off. The studs have I propensity to snap.

Don, thanks for the offer. However, it's done, "new" one is installed, no problem with the nuts. Only took half a beer. Since I'm not at all biased, I can say it looks good. Funny, the replacement came off a same-year car. Thanks, Bill....(parted a Prussian blue Targa).
Have a good "rest of" weekend, folks! Lar

If you can post some photos of you doing this, before, during, after etc. I need to do it and it would be a big help.
