Key to temporary settings on rear toe and camber after indecing Tbars?
I am taking some vacation time week after next and have decided to tackle the ride height on my '84, including re-indexing tbars (any Atlanta Pelicans that will work for beer, feel free to come by). I have a Bentley, angle guage, thin wrenches, etc. and am ready to go, but for one question. I plan to have it aligned soon after the job is done, but am curious as to any tricks to getting the rear toe and camber setting somewhat close to what they were before I started, just until I can get it to the alignment shop. Any advise?
Thanks in advance - Farrell |
Hey Farrell,
I'd be happy to help you. Would give an old retired guy something to do. Go to this thread, and you will see the cool alignment equipment that I scored on Craigslist. Been wanting to give it some use.It will measure castor, camber and toe. I also have a copy of the Ray Scruggs "Home Alignment " booklet to help us rookies learn how to do it! Give me a ring, and we can decide on a date. 7/422-2821 Grant http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-911-technical-forum/490865-scored-some-great-alignment-tools-craiglist.html |
Trace the outline of the trailing arm on the inside of the springplate, then try to get it back there when you are done.

Before starting - take a scribe and outline the current suspension settings - that way it will be much easier to get your settings close

I just did this a week ago. I used a white paint pen to mark the bolt/washer locations.
