Pre Muffler or Cat bypass

I'm looking at replacing my cat converter with a bypass, for track purposes only.
Looking at my options, they range from $169 for a Bursch to $300 plus for a Fabspeed or M&K. Is there a hugh performance or quality difference for almost double the price?
Your thoughts....

Premuffler. Big + on MK quality (not Fabspeed!), + on hp. Do a search on premuffler and Anderson.

Like Wavey says...
MK is a good choice as the O2 sensor captures both banks .
I've had one on my Carrera since last Summer and it's a nice piece of work !

Cheers !

Do a search on pre-muffler or cat bypass, there are plenty of threads. You might want to check this thread on the sounds of different setups.

The ultimate exhaust sound clip thread!

Take care.

Pre-muffler.

I've not used the M&K, but they get good reviews here.

I installed the stainless Dansk pre-muffler shown below, which is also a nice piece.

Yes, the OEM style Dansk is good too, that's what I have. But I believe they're really expensive now, maybe more than the MK?

I have the MK premuffler along with a Fabspeed one in,two out exaust and the sound is very liveable,no droning or unpleasant sounds while driving ...

Maybe the MK is cheaper in price as you don't pay for all the shiny bling bling of the Dansk or Fabspeed premuffler.

Wavey, don't get me wrong here ... lol
I like my shiny Fabspeed muffler with the dual oval tips

Cheers !

Bursch seems adequate for near half the price. Straight through design and it doesn't increase volume much.

I think you probably found my post on another thread about the Maxspeed unit. I still recommend it for the price. The Brusch is mild steel not 301 stainless and will inevitably wear out/rust quicker--that is why its half the price. In addition the 02 sensor bung is forward of where the left and right exhaust banks meet, this equates to the sensor not operating properly.

Yes. According to Anderson, the premuffler makes more HP, believe it or not. It's not an expansion chamber, it's actually a small muffler.

Pre Muffler

I can't speak for other brands, as I have only had the M&K premuffler on my Carrera and have been very happy with it. It sounds really nice and definitely made my 3.2 lively above 4k, with no real negative at lower RPM's.

When first started looking, I looked for a Euro pre-muffler or a used premuffler. The euro premuffler are hard to find and if there is one for sale, have to act super fast as people tend to jum pon them. I could not get one after 6 months and so I gave in and bought a new one from Ben.
