weatershield filters for 1972 mfi

Hi!
Has anyone installed water shield k&n filters on a 72/73 MFI?
Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I dont' think they will fit, but someone on this board went the itg way and made it work.

The earlier Magnesium stacks can be modified to work with the watershields or oval filters. The plastic stacks cannot. ITGs can work on either as they are just foam.

I ran these for a while since I only drive about 20 miles every Saturday and the weather is so nice near the coast in Sothern California. :)

I think the factory filter is the most efficient, unless you go the wire mesh route but valve longevity will be affected.

There have been plenty of dyno tests and the stock airbox is by far the best for power, performance, and longevity. However.....if you want the look and sound of watershields they can be modified to work. 72 plastic stacks with watershields will not clear a stock decklid. I think they will clear a ducktail though. Im not positive tho.
