Rust protection for holes to be drilled in valence?

I'm getting ready to fit and install a rubber chin spoiler on my 82. I think it would be prudent to put some sort of a coating on any bare metal resulting from the new holes that I'm going to have to drill in the valence. The leftover POR15 that I thought I had sealed better than an Egyptian tomb is as dry and hard as the desert surrounding the tomb. Other than POR15, has anybody had success with some sort of coating that could be purchased at Pep Boys, Autozone, etc.? Suggestions so far have been Sharkhide metal protectant, Permatex rust neutralizer, and a rubber-based body undercoating.

Thanks,
Steve

the undercoating is probably the cheapest and easiest way to do it, and it comes in an aerosol can for easy application. tape it off and go to town.

if no POR, try zinc paint on a qtip and squish it in the holes, zinc is good for that. I sprayed some rusty chain that sets outside in the rain and never saw rust again.

My plan:

POR 15 over everything, then their (POR's) primer over that so the undercoating has something to bind to, then the undercoating.

Don't take chances or get cheap with some crap from Pep Boys. Rust never sleeps and it WILL eventually win if you give it any chance.

It's a shame to do all that work and then skimp on the protection that only ensures you'll be doing it again soon.
