Color of stock Targa Bar Script?
My second question of the day....just removed the Targa bar script from my black bar and notice its all silver (aluminum) on both the face and top surface (edges) but painted black on the bottom edges. Is the entire script painted black except for the front face in silver when new....see my pic.

Don't know for sure about every year, but the ones on my 87 are all black, and I even had wondered if a PO had painted them. I've seen the natural/silvered ones, but I never looked underneath. That looks interesting.

Yours was black, like the SC emblem, but the sun bleached out the paint; that's why the back and bottom were still black. Mine was the same as was my 911SC emblem.
Peter Zimmerman in his Used Porsche book says the same thing. I don't know about the early ones, but my 73 with a stainless bar had a gold 'targa'. |
