Question Serial Number ?

OK, Does any one know what year this is it's suppose to be a SC 3.0 but I can't find any thing that tells me that. Excellent's always talks about the new break down of the serial numbers. does anyone know how to decipher this

Serial #911.101.101.7R

Thanks Cadddman

That's not a VIN, which has the following format (for earlier cars):

9113103237

911 = model

4 = 1973

1 = T

0 = Coupe

3237 = unit number

Porsche Crest

The engine number and type code are on the right crankcase half to the right of the fan housing mount; the engine number on the vertical machined surface by the cam oil feed and the type code on the horizontal by the cam feed.

Then you can tell exactly which type of engine you have.

Other than that you were looking at a "7R" case casting number, the number you gave doesn't tell much. You need to look at the VIN number, found in various locations, the easiest being looking through the windshied at the driver's side window upright, or inside the open trunk near the front on an aluminum plate. The engine number? Look at the fan. At about 3 o'clock on the fan opening, look straight down..there will be an upright post cast in the case itself...kind of like a reinforcement piece? On it, you'll find the engine number stamped. Give these numbers, and lots of guys here have the records to jump in & help you.
