whistling/hissing air noise coming into cabin

Hey guys,

I have an annoying whistling/hissing noise coming from somewhere and it's driving me crazy...
It starts to happen at approx 110 km/hour and i can't pinpoint where it's coming from.I put tape on the sunroof area where i thought there might be a gap letting in some air but it didn't come from there.

Now the previous owner had the windshield replaced before i bought the car last Spring and he did mention that there was some sort of "wind" noise when i bought it,although he didn't make a big deal of it.Unfortunately the noise from the muffler does not drown out this annoying noise.

Has anybody had the same issues after replacing their windshield ? I'm going to go "tape crazy" this weekend and try to seal off sections at a time and go for road tests but i'm sure somebody must have had the same issue at one point...

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated !

Regards
Phil

I've found that if the fresh air is vented up, I.e. center lever to the right then there is a significantly more wind noise than when the lever is to the left.

As primitive as it may sound, wonder if you can use a cig lighter or something of the sorts (match?), that produces flame (small would be better) ,..then cautiously run it around the interior windshield area (windows closed, of course) while at higher speed. Maybe you can see flame alterations indicative of air getting by the windshield seal at a specific point.....

Just a thought.

Best,

Doyle

Hey Doyle,

That will be my second option.I stopped off at the hardware store and bought a six pack
of black electrical tape that i'm going to use to seal off different sections of the windshield
until the noise goes away.

Hopefully it is localised in one small area and i will be able to silicone it until it's air tight. Then
if that doesn't do it i'll have someone seal me into the car by taping the side window seal area!
At least the car is black so it won't show as much ... lol

Regards !
