WOW! those look great!

I have some similar to your "original" condition. Any tips or pointers to bring them to life like you have?

Winter,
I used Super Clean and Kerosene to clean them after running them through a parts washer at a machine shop. I found the quickest way to clean them is to blast them in a media cabinet. I took mine to a wheel polisher who sanded the lips with smaller graduating grits. (cost me $150) I then used a polishing kit from Caswell Plating ($55) to get the shine. I think if you have a running car, you could sand the lips yourself by jacking the car and putting it in 2nd with the wheel installed.
Anyway, the wheels are painted with VHT gloss black and the crests are hand painted using automotive grade base coat and a VERY fine tip brush, then clear coated.

Think cookie cutters are very nice looking wheels. Had them on my 2.7 73.5 T.

Restored them like yours with polished rims and black centers except I did the caps all black to match the wheels.

They are also fairly light. Cast, not forged, though. (Made by ATS? Maybe?).

Nice work! They turned out GREAT
I really think they are underrated.

I have for some time tried to get a set of 7" Fuchs for my old 911S. I have a very nice set of 6x15 Fuchs, but I wanted 7" rims... I just gave up on 7" Fuchs. Much too expensive, and nigh on impossible to find a nice, matching set of 4...

I ended up buying (? or just about stealing - very cheap anyway) a set of 4 7x15 Cookies. Must say I am very happy with the result. I just polished the wheels - for a nice aluminium finish. Not perfect at all, but just right im my eyes...

Thanks for sharing your technique. I did buy some Fuchs for my car, but kept the cookies. I really like what you've done. Maybe I'll get my hands dirty "baking" up the cookies and sell the Fuchs!!!!

Again, nice job! A unique look for sure.

WOW! Thanks all... very nice compliments. I got a ways to go with my car restoration (78 euro SC) but am going to try 205/55's in front and 225/50's in the rear. Toyo makes the T1R in the right sizes. I just hope they look good being a bit smaller in diameter than standard (I think they will with the right stance) I should get some extra torque to boot too. Wish me luck on that one.

Ole Petter... what size tire are yours wearing? Those look great too. I really dig the bumper mod... think I saw it in an earlier thread. Might I suggest a stance enhancement?

The tires are Dunlop SP Sport 01, in 205/55-15. They came with the car. I think they look to small, will go for 205/60-15 next time.
Thanks for the comments on the bumpers!

As for the "rallye ride hight" - I have lightened the car quite some - it is 1010 kg with no fuel. So the ride hight has rised... Thing is that I have a severe back-injury and riding in a lowered car really hurts! I have driven several cars that has been lowered and I think the difference in "comfort" is quite noticable... Even on backroads my car rides very well, despite a "rough black-top".

With 6x15 Fuchs

Sorry to hear about your back... I think maybe the harshness is due to reduced shock travel on a lowered car. Springs would retain the same feel I believe. The picture above looks about right IMO, could even go a half inch lower? The smaller diameter tires also lower the car a half inch which can attribute to the raised appearance. I do hope my car car looks OK with that size... 225/50's in rear. If not I may have to go with 16's and use these as DE wheels.
Lighter = Faster!

I did the same for two ATS - cookies this winter, and it is pain in the a**, because the rims are very pitty (cast not forged) not easy to polish - took me two days of work for each rim...

Now I am waiting for the next winter to finish work....
and two more new hands to go an with grinding and polishing

Your wheels look great! I'm partial myself to cookies myself. Fresh Cookies!

On tire sizing, here's my car now with 205/55 front and 225/50 rear SO3s. It's a narrow body (73) so the tires fill up the rear quarters+. With SC flares, I think a small spacer would push them out and look fantastic. That was the plan but I'm keeping the car narrow, for now.

This should give you some idea of what your car will look like.

I've got a second set of 7x15 cookies that I'm considering doing in Lancia Stratos brass/bronze/dull gold. The best part of cookies is they look great both with black centers/polished barrels and all one color.

Very cool stuff... thanks Shaun for the Photos... I have no doubts now the tires will look OK. I do plan to put some spacers on the rear for sure. The front looks about right. Nice car too.
Hey, did you notice a little extra zip with the smaller diameter?

Shaun,

No caps? Will the caps that fit the Fuchs fit on Cookies?

I had caps on mine, but they came with the wheels, so I don't know for sure.
