Best clutch? 1970 - 1971

Hi all,

in the long process of the engine rebuild and the body restoration, I am at the point where I need to order a clutch kit if I am going to have the engine balanced while at the machine shop. This means that I need to decide on the clutch.

What are the options for a 1970 911 E with a 5 speed? I hope that the engine rebuild w/ mods gets the HP up to 190 - 200 (increase displacement to 2.39, increase CR to 9.5:1, port to 36 MM, header). Is the OEM clutch from our sponsor the only choice? Is it the best to use for a street / DE car? My driving style is not gentle (although it should be), and I enjoy high RPM / redline shifts. Is a racing type clutch too grabby for the street?

BTW, I like the dog leg shifter with 1st in the hole, so it is not an option to source a 915 box. However, it seems that all the upgrades / goodies start with the 1972 models.

Thanks in advance

Rick
