Dayton is Parts Express own brand, at least I've never seen them anywhere else.

They are good consumer grade speakers. That one does look interesting, and even has a cast frame or basket. Being a new product I'd wait for opinions on it and for it to go on sale. I have this one in a small angled MDF .75 cubic foot cabinet that Parts Express closed out for $10 each a couple years ago and I put this 8" Dayton woofer in it. Parts-Express.com:*Dayton SD215-88 8" Shielded DVC Subwoofer | subwoofer sd215-88 8" subwoofer dvc dual voice coil dayton subwoofer dayton dvc dayton 8" woofer daytonDVC030209 Upto15PerOffDASubs It made big improvement in bass response and the back of the driver seat holds it in place, cost less than $40 and it's easy to remove.. I have a 4 channel amp. 2 of the channels go to this woofer, the other 2 channels go to the door and rear deck speakers so the fader control on the head unit is now a woofer level control. I've also removed the upper and lower heavy OEM soundpads behind the back seats when I restored my interior recently. That gave me about an inch more room for the woofer box to fit in down there and one more click for the driver seat to slide back. a pic of it.. ![]() I put in an APPBIZ lightweight interior soundpad in place of the origonal upper 17 pound soundpad and no sound pad down below. The rear fuel pump buzz was more noticeable at stoplights but then I put a 6" long piece of 2.5" silicone hose around the rear fuel pump to dampen it's buzz, put it back with a longer hose clamp and it's quieter than it was before. The fuel pump is cooled by fuel so heats not an issue. |
