wing gasket

I am talking about the gasket that fits between the front fenders and the front cowling up by the doors. Can these be replaced with out removing the fenders, say loosen a few screws and pull out and slide in new ones?
Thanks,
Joe

That's right Joe. Just loosen up the bolts (allen head, 5mm I think?) a bit and put in the new ones. Make sure you get the right size fender seals. That is, there is a thick and a thin version. The thickness is the part that you see between the fender and the cowl after it's in place. If you get the ones that are thinner, then you'll see the lines left by the old, crappy ones. That's what happened to me!

fender/cowling gasket

KTL-
Is it really that easy? Cosmetically, this is one of the things that really bugs me about my Targa. PO left it out in the sun too much, so they're pitted and whitish and they look like crap.

I bought a set from PP, just never installed them because I thought I'd have to almost take the fender off. I think they come in 4mm/6mm (or was it 6mm/8mm)?

Its that easy. Just loosen the bolts holding the fender on and push it in. No experience with thin or thick one, however. Be carefull of the paint and don't use anything that can scratch the paint to push the seals in. Murphy's law says you'll scratch the paint.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the info! Now I just need to buy an allen head socket to get at that second bolt in, when looking through the door jamb.
