Porsche Crest Fuel Lines & Hose assys for Early 911s

We recently completed a fuel hose upgrade on a 70 911S, and thought I would pass on the results for those who may be interested..........

In addition to the feed & return hoses, SS lines were installed thru the tunnel to eliminate any risk of rusted or corroded fuel lines failing within the tunnel.

Len,

Excellent installation.
It looks great.

I assume you still have the MFI.

What pump did you use? (Part number, usual application, pressure and flow specifications.)

Does the mounting have vibration isolation between the pump and body?
Modified Factory original?

How did you fish the pipes through the tunnel and prevent any contact with other things
(clutch cable, throttle rod, shift linkage, heater controls, other)?

What pipe sizes and specification? Each different sizes?

How did you connect the threaded fittings to the pipes?

What is the configuration of hoses and fittings at the rear
(at the end of the tunnel, alongside transmission and up to filter console)?

Which CIS fuel tank is that?

What is the open rubber (~12 mm) hose?

Is there room to install a ‘CIS-type’ fuel filter?

That is a vary nice installation.
I want to do the same with a ’79 911SC but include the filter.

I did similar plumbing when I installed a MFI engine (2.8S) in my ’68.
I have the pipes alongside the tunnel on the passenger side.
Again, like your installation with steel fittings silver-soldered to the pipes.

My street 914-6 (2.8S) also has new pipes outside the tunnel.

My 914-6 SCCA GT2 racer has high-pressure, armored Aeroquip hoses.
My theory is I want them to conform with bent sheet metal in a crash
and not stress the connections. Never tested.

Best,
Grady

Thank you. I can answer some of your questions and will look up the answers to the others.

My part of the project was done over a year ago, and I have forgotten some of the details.

The injection is a combination of MFI throttles done by Matt Blast of Eurometrix and EFI from our friend Richard Clewett. I cannot say enough good things about them.

Heres a photo of the motor.............

It is the original for the chassis, and has been opened up to a 2.5.

We have kept all the original MFI components, even had the pump rebuilt by Pacific Gus, just in case our customer wants to go back to stock.

It has dual ignition by Jerry Woods and all machine work was done by our friends at Ollies.

Before I get off subject, the fuel lines are seamless SS from General Metal Supply here in Mass.

It was a straight forward job to install, as the chassis was totally stripped of eng, trans, interior, gas tank, etc.

We do not solder the fittings but machine custom fittings to accept the metric hose we buy from Cohline.

They are the same ones used in our "Fuel Hose Fix" kits for the 944. Its a simple flare fitting that can be installed by everyone.

We have gotten lots of experience dealing with Metric fittings & hose over the years.

Hope this helps.

I will get details on tube sizes, etc and try to answer any questions as best I can,

but to all who want info, PLEASE send me an email, do not PM me.

nice - sanitary, even

I too have a query - why did you decide not to mount the pump to the Al suspension crossbar, as the factory did on the later cars?

Pump location- A matter of convenience in routing the hose & the need of a Banjo at the fuel pump. Uses a stock mount w rubber isolators.

The open hose is the drain from the fresh air box I think.

As far as the hose routing in the rear I will look at the car, I just don't remember how we did it.

Nice! Been serioiusly considering fuel system upgrade while motor out here. Problem is I kinda like the "thocka-thocka" of the old Hardi in it now.

These fuel hose assys can be made to any configuration needed.

We also do custom oil hose assemblies. I have posted that info on other threads.
